Based on the books this series is called Vampire Diaries . This series aired on TV with the name that the books had. This series’ 1st season had aired on CW Network on September 10, 2009 and due to the amazing popularity it had gotten then planned to release the second season on February in 2010 to see if they can keep the huge success that they have loved for the last year.

Both the television and book series are targeted for a teenage audience. The story is of a young girl who is in love with two brothers. She is torn, but cannot decide between them. The unique twist of such a plot is that the brothers are actually vampires, of which she is aware. The story chronicles this love triangle, as well as the daily lives of the three main characters.

Playing the lead role in the series of the character of Elena Gilbert the girl who falls in love with the vampire brothers is teenage actress Nina Dobrev and playing the role of the two vampire brothers are Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore and Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore. One of the other key characters in the Vampire Diaries Tv show is Katherine Pierce who used to love the brothers back in 1864 and whose role is also played by teen actor Nina Dobrev.

Additional characters of The Vampire Diaries include Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert, Elena’s younger brother; Elena’s and Jeremy’s guardian and aunt, Jenna Sommers; Katerina Graham as a witch named Bonnie Bennet, who is also Elena’s best friend; and Zach Roerig as Matt Donovan, Elena’s ex-boyfriend. Each of these actors also returned for the television series’ second season; no changes in characters occurred.

In addition to its successful television premier, The Vampire Diaries were named Favorite Television Drama in the People’s Choice Awards for 2010. Moreover, as a result of its widespread popularity in the United States, the series also expanded globally. Such countries as South Africa, New Zealand, Venezuela, Thailand, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Argentina, just to name a few, now air The Vampire Diaries as well.
