The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 movie is a thriller that grabs you from the word go. Travoltas character, Ryder, demands that the New York City mayor cough up $10 million within an hour or be prepared to watch as he slays one person every minute when the ransom period has elapsed.

Denzel Washington and John Travolta both live up to their roles by delivering engaging performances. Denzel Washington plays the role of Walter to utmost perfection and brings the low-profile personality to life. On the other hand, John Travolta blends in and becomes the true face of terror by portraying a brutal and extremely clever crook.

Another noteworthy performance is given by John Turturro, who plays the role of a police negotiator. Although his role is limited due to the storyline (as Ryder only agrees to talk to Walter) he plays his short role to perfection.

You can expect to be swept away by this intense and well edited movie. Viewers are assailed with thoughts of whether or not Ryder will pull the plug on the hostages by shooting them one by one. The movie is this years best portrayal of a hostage scene in a realistic sense thats not over the top.
