The technology of TVs has come a long way in a reasonably short time.

In 2007, we had a pretty balanced spread of CRT and LCD technology. Of course, you could get some great deals then on new CRT TVs. Now, it’s pretty difficult to unearth one in most electronics stores and online. In 2008, they were phased out all but completely and now LCD models are by far the most widely available.

The 32RV635DB is the British brother of the Toshiba 32RV365. Aside from having three pins, it is completely the same as the Toshiba television model 32RV635.

The 32RV635DB sports an impressive 32 inch wide screen display that produces the best images for a distance of eight to ten feet from the TV. Unlike many other models, this television has a cabinet design that helps it become one with your room and home, not just another piece of electronics that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Tests show that the 32RV635DB is better than average for standard definition or high definition television viewing, but may not be suitable for some higher end gaming applications.

All of the Toshiba RV TVs come with a planet friendly perk. You can actually reach to the back of the set and throw a switch that will help you be a better environmentally conscious citizen. The switch in question allows you to cut back the typical 3 watt an hour power usage while not in use to under 1 watt per hour when in standby. Why would anyone not throw the switch? You’ll be helping the planet by reducing your carbon footprint with the 32RV635DB.

This Toshiba model gives you new GUI on all of the menu screens. This means that the Graphic User Interface on the 32RV635DB is bright and vivid, easy for you to read the menus and that’s a nice change. Many other models will have you squinting and standing right in front of the TV just to be able to read the menus and change any settings that you desire.

One adjustment that may need to be made when powering up the 32RV635DB is choosing the aspect ratio one wishes to view programmes at. This is easily accomplished using the remote control.

The set did demonstrate some overdrive errors and colour smearing during more technical testing. The end result was that the 32RV635DB is excellent for passive viewing of television programming in standard or high definition modes, but may not be able to keep up with 60p computer games.

The viewing angle on the Toshiba 32RV635DB is great, definitely well beyond what would be expected. There was some shifting of colour and gamma which in turn leads to a bit of distorted viewing. However, the aspect ratio of 1 to 1 pixel mapping is superb. The images produced by this TV are great.

Keep in mind, the 32RV635DB is not one of the higher end HD models available. However, it has shown serious promise for those who are looking for a low priced High Definition TV to use for viewing purposes for your family. This TV did better than anything else in this price range and the aspect ratio is key.

You will have to mess with the settings a bit to achieve the perfect colour and image quality, but it is possible to achieve. You’ll be thrilled with the crispness of the images that the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB produces.
