Taylor Lautner From Twilight – Why Fans Drool Over Him June 14, 2010
On February 11, 1992, actor Taylor Lautner was born in Michigan to Deborah and Daniel Lautner. With a mixed heritage, he developed a competitive edge at a very early age when he began competing in martial arts competitions.
Lautner has become quite famous as a karate champion. Beginning to train at the age of 6, his talent was quickly recognized. By the age of eight he began training with Mike Chat, a renowned world champion in the sport. Taylor went on to represent the United States in a number of Junior World Forms and Weapons competitions, winning several gold’s and the title of Champion. By the age of twelve he was a black belt champion at the Junior World level.
His interests have not been confined to karate, however. He became interested in acting and, to assist him in his efforts, at the age of ten the entire family moved to the Los Angeles area. At that time he began auditioning on a regular basis for acting parts. He also found a deep interest in football and baseball.
Taylor booked his first role in a television-made movie called “Shadow Fury.” Roles on “My Wife and Kids” and “The Bernie Mac Show” in 2001 soon followed and he has enjoyed fairly steady employment ever since. Many roles have included providing voices for characters such as in “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?” and “Charlie Brown.” At the age of thirteen, however, Lautner won the role of Shark boy in the animated film “The Adventures of Shark boy and Lava girl 3-D” launching him into the spotlight in the movie industry.
Shortly after his Shark boy role, Taylor successfully secured the role of Eliot in “Cheaper by the Dozen 2″ where he was teamed with the likes of Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Eugene Levy and many others who helped him hone his skills. This journey has also generated a new interest in fields such as scriptwriting and directing which he has been able to practice at his high school where he has made two movies.
More recently, Taylor’s character role as Jacob Black, a Native-American character in the Twilight Movies, brought him much attention. When vying for the sequel he was required to gain 30 pounds while weight-training in order to develop the muscles required for the part. He also received a movie role in “Valentine’s Day” and did a very good job as the youngest host ever on “Saturday Night Live.”
In future roles, already secured, Lautner will incorporate his martial arts background for the movie “Cancun”, will explore his thrill-seeking side in “Abduction” and will continue to expand on his voice roles in “Stretch Armstrong” 3-D movie. Due to his versatility and flexibility he has become a highly prized asset in the movie industry.
To his credit, Taylor Lautner has earned various awards such as the People’s Choice Award and Kid’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actor. Currently he is the highest paid teen in the industry and if he continues in the same fashion history has shown, he will become one of the super stars whose movies will entertain audiences for years to come.
