Two truly interesting films that many have never seen are “55 Days at Peking” and “The Gods Must Be Crazy”. The first covers the siege of the foreign compound in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900. It stars Ava Gardner, David Niven, and Charlton Heston. The second is the story of a soda bottle thrown from an airplane and found by a tribe of Bushmen, who think it a gift from the gods. However, it causes jealousy, contention, and strife in a society that had known only peace. One young man volunteers to carry it to the end of the world and throw it off the cliff. Along the way, he is aided by some offbeat and hilarious characters.

Mystery buffs might prefer films like “Death on the Nile”, “Rebecca”, “Witness for the Prosecution”, or “Murder on the Orient Express”. Or is you are in the mood for a screwball comedy, you might like “Bringing up Baby”, starring Cary Grant, Hope and Crosby in “Road to Utopia” or “Hold That Ghost” with Abbott and Costello.

Other worthy titles include “Ice Station Zebra”, “Damn the Defiant!”, “Pork Chop Hill”, “Marty” and “Command Decision”. Once you start looking, however, you will no doubt find that there are thousands more which are as good or better.
