Princess Protection Program Movie is a Disney Channel movie made for the enjoyment of both adults and children alike. The story has two stars performing together in it. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. The clothes are perfectly paired and trendy. The characters are well defined and look the part that they are playing. The plot and script will keep you and the children engrossed.

The plot itself is extremely simple. Costa Luna, an island kingdom whose official language is English combined with a strong Spanish accent, is really small. It is ruled by a King whose death is untimely. Through the grief filled moments the King’s wife has to help their 17 year old daughter, who is the crown princess, to prepare for becoming the monarch. Ten days prior to the coronation, the palace is stormed by rebels who do not want a monarchy. They want a militant General Magnus Kane, also a dictator to be installed to rule the kingdom.

A fierce war breaks out. During the battle, a princess protection program whisks the princess to safety so that she does not have to face political imprisonment. The PPP shifts the princess from her small island kingdom to the rural parts of Louisiana, USA. Here she meets Carter, a full time high school student and part time bait shop employee in her father’s store. Carter’s dad is part of the PPP and needs to go on a mission therefore he entrusts the princess in his daughter’s care.

Carter has to now teach the snobby princess, Rosie to act normal, and blend in to the school atmosphere so that she is not detected by any spys. This is a job that both hate equally. In order to help Rosie get rid of her snobby behaviour and princess mannerisms, Carter cracks down on Rosie, thoroughly enjoying the role. Carter herself is picked on very often, and is not very popular at school. Rosie and Carter pretend that they are couzins while in school. Though this is not very agreeable to both the girls they have to strive to get along with each other for the sake of the princess and for the sake of the promise made by Carter to her father.

Rosie’s mother who had been left behind is held captive by the General who forces her to marry him. This is what leads to the film’s climax. Quite interestingly, the story captures the development of the bond between the girls as they study, play and try working part time together. Each learns valuable lessons from the other. While Carter learns how to act like a princess though she is not one and Rosie learns how to be a normal person despite the fact that she cannot be one.

The movie leaves you with a moral that you don’t have to be royalty to know how to behave and that acceptance is important. It also teaches that friendship is to be valued.
