Learn To Play Acoustic Guitar The Right Way – Most People Get This Wrong August 24, 2010

When you’re just starting to learn guitar you might be ecstatic at the vast amount of knowledge that’s available at your fingertips. Simply type beginner guitar lessons into Google and you’re presented with more instruction than you can consume in a lifetime or two. This is awesome but it could also be the reason why you’re not the guitarist you’ve always dreamed of becoming. Too much information, and most of the time the wrong instruction does not equal a happy guitar player.

Think about a doctor for a second. First of all there’s a steep learning curve involved and secondly he or she needs to follow the system word for word and step by step. There’s no “I don’t feel like learning about the human anatomy today, pass me the scalpel instead!” That’s a recipe for defeat if ever there was one. No, they must follow the course and consume the right knowledge at the right time and stick with it if they ever want to get anywhere.

Imagine the guy had to learn all there is about medicine from video posted on Youtube by people who don’t know jack really? He would be confused and overloaded and just wouldn’t cut it in the end. The information will be either wrong or incomplete and instead of helping him learn more it will just confuse him. So clearly this approach just won’t work and the risks are just massive.

Sadly most people try and learn guitar through the haphazard way I just explained. A lesson here and a lesson there. Surely you’ll learn things but would it really teach you a whole concept or new skill? If you just want to learn a few licks or perhaps a song then it’s sweet , but not if you’re looking for a complete set of steps that you can trust and follow knowing that as long as you stick with it you will make it.

So my suggestion to folks who are looking for a method or a formula to learn guitar is to enroll in a good course online. One where you get to ask the teacher as many questions as you like and one that has many glowing testimonials. That way you’re guaranteed to get somewhere as long as you put in the required practice. It really is that simple.

I have put together such a course where I can explain to you how to play acoustic guitar in 48 hours. It works like this… You practice 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week and at the end of the 16 weeks you have practiced only 48 hours. Now if you ask me that’s as sweet a deal as you’re ever going to get. Just 48 hours to learn a new skill to add value and color to your life that you can share with your friends and family.
