New DVD Movies

Hollywood directors are always over enthusiastic to make sequel to a successful movie. The hugely popular animation film ‘Ice Age’ was followed by its sequel within a short period of time. The sequels are generally not as popular as the first edition. But the third Ice Age movie removes all these notions. It has introduced some new characters and the world class animation is a visual treat.

The original star cast is retained - Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary), Ellie (Queen Latifah) and the lovable Sid (John Leguizamo). The third edition creates a spring feeling with love blossoming all around. This is a departure from the earlier episode where snows, ice and glacial meltdowns formed the backdrop of the movie. We find Manny pre-occupied with Ellie who is expecting their first baby. Diego - the sharp toothed tiger and Sid - the bumbling sloth getting very upset about the developments. Both of them feel that Manny is ignoring them. A despondent Diego decides to leave and Sid plans to start his own family.

But Sid has a problem. He needs a she-sloth to cohabit which is difficult to find. He chances upon some abandoned eggs and decides to steal them. But little does he know that these eggs belong to a forever annoyed mother dinosaur that arrives on the scene shortly. Within hours of hatching from the eggs the baby dinos exhibit alarming mammal eating tendencies. The T-Rex mother loses no time in grabbing the babies and the Sid by their neck and takes them into an underground world which is inhabited by dinosaurs, carnivorous plants and a weasel named Buck.

Then the real adventure begins with Manny and other running to save Sid. This part of the animated film is the most addictive with lots of fun element and action thrown in. You can see a lot of adorable baby dinos and the scenes are depicted in vibrant colors which create a visual extravaganza for the audience. We come across some particulars which are previously seen in the earlier versions like balancing rocks and rushing water.

Scrat, the squirrel, who runs after the subtle acorn is seen in this movie too. But we are introduced to a new character. A female squirrel, Scratte, is the worthy rival for the acorn and provides a romantic side too.

Hollywood has raised the bar this time with world-class animation. The mammoths look life like and you are left wondering how beautiful it will look on a LED TV. The dinosaurs look a bit fake and reveal a lack of reality but this shortcoming is well forgotten during the course of the movie.

Ice Age movie is renowned for world class action and comedy scenes. This claim is further strengthened by the last hour of the movie with edge of the seat scenes. But I am not going to give away the ending so easily. Go and check out the movie in the nearest theater or if you prefer you can watch Ice Age online free. This is a movie which will fill your moment with loads of laughter and joy and should bring smiles to the faces of the young kids.
