New DVD Movies

MTV Films and DreamWorks joined hands to release Blades of Glory in the year 2007. It was written by Jeff Cox, Craig Cox and Busy Philips and produced by Ben stiller, Stuart cornfield and john Jacobs. And the acknowledgement of directing Blades of glory goes to Will Speck and josh Gordon. This comedy movie was released on DVD and HD DVD.

The movie begins with rival ice skaters, Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy McElroy (Jon Heder of Napolean Dynamite fame)are tied for the gold medal at the World Winter Sports Games. Micheals is a skilled skater with a secret sex addiction while McElroy is distinctly sissyish. Both skaters start arguing and soon come down to blows because of which they’re both disqualified and banned. This loss results in Jimmy McElroy’s billionaire father disowning him and dumping him onto the streets.

The movie then shows the status of two men after few years. Jimmy works in a winter sports product store and gets relegated for tying up a kid’s skates boot lace tightly and Chazz works at a children’s skate show. He is fired as he is found drunk on stage. In between the years chazz has put a lot of flab and looks plumpy.

When Hector (Nick Swardson), Jimmy’s stalker, informs him of a loophole he can exploit to compete in professional pair skating, Jimmy gets in touch with his old coach Robert (Craig T. Nelson)and begins looking out for a partner. The only person he finds is Chazz. Both are convinced by the coach to skate together and compete in the pair skating competition as single sex skaters.

The pair of Jimmy and Chazz are spied upon by Katie (Jenna Fischer) on the say-so of her older brother and sister pair Stranz (Will Arnett) and Fairchild (Amy Poehler) who happen to be the reigning pair champions of the US. The pair do so because they feel their position at the top’s threatened by the two over the hill skaters. Katie however, finds herself getting attracted to Jimmy in the process of spying and soon ends up in a relationship with him.

Chazz and Jimmy get together well and they go till to great levels and win the U.S Figure Skating championship. This gets them into the winter sports games again. Robert states that they would win the game successfully only by improving their ability to perform the technique called iron lotus which was invented by him. He then warns them that this was never performed following the event in which a skater cut off his pair’s head accidentally while performing the technique at North Korea.

So what ensues at last? Does the duo win the gold medal by performing the technique successfully with neither of them dying? And do Katie and jimmy get together in spite of her siblings condemnation.
