Best Way To Learn Guitar April 26, 2010
Guitar is a great instrument that can give you a lot of good times, but also a lot of bad times, if you go about it the wrong way. Advice: don’t go about it the wrong way. It’s definitely true that learning guitar can be done the right or the wrong way. The latter is commonly practiced by people who get discouraged and frustrated. Don’t be one of those people.
The number one cause for people to get discouraged is lack of guidance. At the beginner stage, guidance is extremely important. You must know where you are at and when to move on.
Having nobody to guide you can be a serious disadvantage. Many beginners try to do it by themselves, but they often get ahead of themselves and quickly get discouraged. They are all over the place, learning things way too advanced for them. And because they don’t succeed they get frustrated. Some even put the guitar down. For good.
You have to understand that guitar is a step by step process. There are no shortcuts. For this reason, you will need some sort of lessons that will guide you step by step through the whole process.
At an early stage, fundamentals are the most important thing to work on. Whatever you do, don’t skip the basics. If you want to build a strong house, you need strong foundations. If you want to become good at guitar – guess what – you also need strong foundations.
This is so important that I must say it again: don’t skip over the basics. If you want a smooth and efficient learning process, you’ll take your time and master the fundamentals first. This is the way to do it properly. If you think basics are a waste of time, let me tell you – it’s a waste of time doing it differently.
Okay, there you have it. To learn guitar the right way get some quality lessons (think DVD) and be patient. You’ll get there, don’t worry. Just don’t get discouraged too soon.
