The Prestige – The setting is the early 1900′s in London. Magicians are of high status in the entertainment business. Robert Angler and Alfred Borden, once partners on stage, are now in an intense battle to be the best magician in London. They will go to any means to outshine the other.
Days of Wine and Roses – Modern Lost Weekend set in San Francisco, with Lemmon wedding Remick and lugging her into a state of alcoholism. Practical direction and abrasive inscribing unite for phenomenal outcome. Cast includes Jack Lemmon, Lee Remick, Charles Bickford, Jack Klugman, Alan Hewitt, Tom Palmer, and Jack Albertson. Rubin and Ed – Odd odyssey of 2 gentlemen on a mission to bury a dead cat. Can they ever find the right spot? Glover once made a notorious appearance on David Letterman’s Television show playing the identical personality he does here. Cast includes Crispin Glover, Howard Hesseman, Karen Black, Michael Green, and Brittney Lewis. (92 minutes, 1992)
Underworld – Evolution – The war between the Werewolves and the Vampires rage on. Now we look back to the commencement, and see how the argument between the two races started out. A conflict that began way in the past is about to be brought into the current day to finish here.
Rock My World – This is a pretty good comedy set in England (however shot and funded in Canada) that went directly to video in the U.S. although is far more involving than its theatrical fate could show. We see an aristocratic British couple rent their house to a rock band and end up posing as the butler and chef while the eccentric team ultimately shows up. Observing the interplay create between these enormously variant generations and lifestyles is fun and the music is amazingly catchy. Cast includes Peter O’Toole, Joan Plowright, Alicia Silverstone, Jairnz Woolvett, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, Christopher Bolton, and Lochlyn Munro.
