How To Pick Martial Arts DVD’s August 2, 2010
When we think about martial arts DVDs we might not have a great mindset on them, and this is unfortunate. Numerous people stay away from martial arts films or only pick the ones that have cross over stars like Jackie Chan or Jet LI. There is nothing wrong with those actors at all, they are very good at what they do, it’s just they do not make up all the martial arts talent and there is more to these movies than Hollywood stars and big budgets. Martial arts movies have been the subject of many mockery movies in the past and probably will be in the future as well and what these movies do is place a opinion inside the viewing audiences mind that this is what these movies are all about; bad acting and powerless storylines.
This is not what martial arts DVDS are about at all and the misconception stops people from viewing some sincerely great films. Another main reason why people tend to shy away from honest martial arts films is that the skill of fighting is in other movies everywhere we look these days. In any action movie out there, when the good guy and bad guy fight they will most likely bust out some martial arts moves that are not nearly as good as the professionals. While this is entertaining for a while, if you want to see some truly astonishing skill that command no stuntmen or special effects then you should be watching the real McCoy.
The acting in martial arts films is not as bad as what everyone may think. This perception came from people watching the spoof movies or watching the badly dubbed versions just so they did not have to read subtitles. If you are going to watch a film you should always watch it in its native tongue and not get a dubbed version. It will just be bad and leave a bad taste in your mouth. All these aspects of these types of films make it impossible for people to watch them and this is a real shame indeed.
The vision that goes into these movies isn’t matched by any other out there. The characters that you will meet will always be thought of and will connect with you even by subtitles. There is no good reason why people should not be seeing these movies as there really is nothing else out there that is quite like them. How many movies can convey thoughts and feelings through the skill that these films have?
Martial arts DVDs line the shelves at any store you walk into and will have more premise and heart and soul than most of the movies you will pick out that night over them. Misconceptions about films and genre’s can keep people from watching some genuinely impressive films and can limit their choices at the video stores when they have nothing else to pick.
